Coach Mejía Names Final Roster for Qatar U-17s as Home World Cup Nears

Doha: Head coach Álvaro Mejía has officially announced the 21-player squad for the Qatar Under-17 national team, known as the Young Maroons, for the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup 2025. The tournament will be hosted by Qatar from November 3rd to 27th, with matches to be played at the Aspire Academy and Khalifa International Stadium.

 

The Young Maroons will begin their campaign in Group A, facing Italy on November 3rd. They will then take on South Africa on November 6th, before concluding the group stage against Bolivia on November 9th.

 

In a historic first for FIFA tournaments, this edition will feature 48 national teams. A total of 104 matches will be played over the 25-day competition, promising a festival of football. Furthermore, Qatar is set to host the next five consecutive editions of the tournament until 2029, which will now be held annually instead of the previous biennial format.

 

The selected squad includes three goalkeepers: Ahmed Saber, Khaled Shukri, and Abdulrahman Khaled. They are joined by outfield players Tamim Al-Qadi, Adam Riyad, Zayed Faisal, Sultan Al-Abdulrahman, Saud Al-Hamad, Essa Walid, Saif Al-Din Ahmed, Sheikh Mohammed, Abdulaziz Younis, Omar Al-Marzouqi, Faisal Saeed, Karam Hadi, Malek Majed, Mohammed Akram, Mustafa Khaled, Mohannad Jameel, Mohammed Abdulrahman, and Yazan Hani.
