DOHA:Moroccan striker Abderrazzak Hamdallah struck the all-important goal as early as the fourth minute as Jaish defeated Ahli 1-0 in their Qatar Stars League tie at the Al Ahli Stadium on Tuesday.
The win increased the Armymen’s tally to 29 points and helped them climb to second in the table while Ahli, who are struggling because of injuries to key players and lack of form, slumped to 11th.
Champions Lekhwiya piled more misery on misfiring Gharafa with a 4-0 win.
The latter held the cops goalless close to the hour mark, but floodgates were opened once Ismail Mohammed broke the deadlock in the 55th. Youssef Msakni (67th and 80th), and Nam Tae-Hee (77th) were the other scorers for Lekhwiya, coached by Djamel Belmadi.
Elsewhere, Wakrah scored an upset 1-0 win over a fighting Arabi. Midfielder Abdulrahman Mohammed, who is on loan from Lekhwiya, scored in the 10th minute and that turned out to be the winner. It was Wakrah’s fifth victory in this season’s Qatar Stars League while Arabi suffered their fifth defeat even though they stayed fifth in the table.
