DOHA: El Jaish terminated the contract of coach Razvan Lucescu after they lost their fifth game in a row.
The Romanian was told his services were no longer required following the 2-1 defeat at the hands of league leaders Lekhwiya on Tuesday.
Lucescu had taken Jaish to to the top of the League earlier this season in a brilliant unbeaten run. But Tuesday’s result was the team’s fifth defeat in a row, a fact which the club’s administration was not happy about.
National coach Yousef Adam has been put in charge of the side. His first game will be Saturday’s match against Umm Salal.
The club thanked Lucescu for all his efforts, including winning their first ever trophy in the shape of last season’s QNB Qatar Stars Cup.
Lucescu also took Jaish to the last 16 of the AFC Champions League last season.
