DOHA: Keeping past tradition alive, the Emir Cup 'Trophy Tour' on
Monday kicked off with the golden winner's trophy making stops across
schools in Qatar.
Following the success of previous Emir Cups 'Trophy Tours',
schoolchildren of Al Hikma International Kindergarten and Saoud Bin
Abdulrahman Kindergarten for Boys were invited on Monday to be part
of the first stop of the Emir Cup Trophy Tour.
The Qatar Football Association (QFA) delegation received a warm
welcome from the school children who displayed different dance
performances and shows to express their enthusiasm for the tournament.
Nahida Al Zaghlool, Physical Education Teacher in Al Hikma
International Kindergarten said: “We thank the QFA for organising the
Emir Cup Trophy Tour and making a stop in Al Hikma International
Kindergarten to allow the children to participate in the biggest
football event in Qatar.”
Najwa Al Yazeedi, Vice Principal of Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Kindergarten
for Boys said: “We are honoured to welcome the Emir Cup Trophy in our
school today and extend our gratitude to the QFA for all their efforts
in involving all segments of the communities in this important
tournament. We are proud to be part of this historic moment and wish
to take part in next year’s trophy tour.”
Not only will did the students have a chance to hold the prestigious
trophy, they also had the opportunity to take memorable pictures with
it.
The tour also included gift distribution and a briefing session about
the tournament and football in general. The students were invited to
attend the matches and take part in the different community events
which QFA is organising in the lead up to the final match.
The final match is set to take place on May 20 in Jassim Bin Hamad (Al
Sadd Stadium).
The trophy tour is scheduled to make stops at various schools in Doha
in the upcoming days to allow as many schools to take part in the Emir
Cup.
