DOHA: Exciting battles are on the cards in the second round of the Emir Cup.
The second round kicks-off on Saturday with four games to be decided
in one day.
In one match on Saturday, Al Kharaitiyat have a date with Qatar SC at
Grand Hamad Stadium.
In the second fixture at the same venue, Muaither - the Qatargas
League title champions - take on former Emir Cup winners Al Gharafa.
Also in action on Saturday are Al Shamal who face Al Wakra at Suhaim
Bin Hamad Stadium.
At the same venue, Al Khor play Mesaimeer.
Muaither and Al Shamal have qualified from the first round of the Emir
Cup after posting resounding wins.
Last Monday, Muaither beat Al Shahaniya 4-1 in a penalty shootout
while Al Shamal edged Al Markhiya 3-1.
Al Gharafa, Al Khor, Al Wakra, Al Kharaitiyat, Qatar SC and Mesaimeer
were placed from nine to 14th spots on the final points table of the
Qatar Stars League (QSL).
Tough tasks await the QSL sides who have a golden opportunity to go
and win at least one piece of silverware this season.
With top four sides - Al Rayyan, El Jaish, Al Sadd and Lekhwiya - not
to be seen in action until the latter stages of the event, the
pressure will be on the bottom sides in what is the final tournament
of the season.
The Emir Cup is the biggest football tournament in the country.
The final of the Emir Cup will be played on May 20.
