DOHA: FIFA special committee tasked to determine the timing of Qatar
2022 FIFA World Cup will hold a meeting with Qatar football officials
on Tuesday.
AFC President Sheik Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa of Bahrain will
preside over the meeting in the presence of representatives of
regional and national confederations at levels of leagues, clubs and
representatives of the International Federation of Professional
Footballers, European Clubs Association, UEFA Champions League Stars
and Hassan Al Thawadi, secretary general of the Supreme Committee for
Delivery & Legacy.
It is to be noted that the committee has held two meetings last
September and October to determine the most appropriate date for the
first World Cup in the Middle East.
This meeting is very important for FIFA special committee upon which
it will submit its final report to the FIFA executive committee which
will be meet next March.
2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar Local Organizing Committee has announced
that it will hold a press conference next Wednesday during which Al
Thawadi, head of organizing committee and FIFA General Secretary
Jerome Valcke will present a briefing on the latest developments
concerning the organization of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Nasser Al Khater, Executive Director of Communication and Marketing at
Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, will also feature at the
meetings.
