Friendlies, overseas training camp for Qatar juniors in May

DOHA: Qatar U-19 squad - coached by Oscar Cano - will play at least three friendlies and undergo a training camp in France, this was announced by Qatar Football Association (QFA) on Sunday. Currently preparing for the AF Asian Cup U-19 to be held in Bahrain in October, Qatar have already completed three overseas training camps in Morocco, Spain and Croatia, playing a series of friendlies during the trips. Qatar will play China on May 10 before getting ready for a week-long training camp in France, QFA said on Sunday. During the European stopover, Qatar will play R.S.C. Anderlecht on May 23 followed by a game against Austria two days later. Austria will be a key game for Qatar since the former has a quality side with promising bunch of players, a team official said on Sunday. Austria did well at the FIFA U-20 World Cup held in New Zealand in 2015. Two years ago, they reached the semifinals of the Euro 2014. Qatar, the defending champions of the Asian U-19 title, are preparing for this year's edition with a long series of friendlies and training camps. During the last three months, Qatar have played friendlies against Spain, Ivory Coast, Costa Rica and Croatia getting impressive results. Meanwhile, QFA said the draw of the tournament will be held in Bahrain on April 30. Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Iran, Iraq, Vietnam, South Korea, China, Japan, Australia, Tajikistan, Thailand, North Korea and Yemen and have already qualified for the finals besides Qatar.
