DOHA: Qatar coach Felix Sanchez on Tuesday urged his players to forget
their semi-final loss against South Korea and focus on the next match
against Iraq.
The home team lost the AFC U-23 Championship semifinal 3-1 on Tuesday
night and must beat Iraq in the third-place playoff to seal their
ticket for the football competition at the 2016 Olympic Games.
"It was a great effort except for the last few minutes," Sanchez said
in a post-match conference. "But the players must forget this match
quickly and focus on the next game.
"It is a bit sad but we must we still have a chance to qualify for the
Olympic Games," he said.
Only the top three sides reach the 2016 Olympic Games.
"We know all the scenarios. We have started preparing for the next
clash. The players are tired but we will only take the positives to
the next game," he said.
"The next game will be the most difficult for the players. It is a
game in which both sides have one aim," he said.
"This will be our last chance to reach the Olympic Games. I am
confident that the team will do well and get that result," he said.
"I am proud the way players have played so far in this tournament," he
said. "We are working to lift their spirits.
"We've become better overall. Things happen in football. We have to
accept the result but we trust our players," he said.
South Korea and Japan will clash in the final on January 30.
