DOHA: The issue of former Al Arabi midfielder Abdul Aziz Hatem's
controversial move to Al Gharafa was carefully studied before an
announcement was made on the case, QFA Vice President Saoud Abdulaziz
Al Mohannadi has said.
In a detailed chat with QFA official media, Al Mohannadi explained
QFA's stance on the matter.
Question: How do you see this case involving Abdul Aziz Hatem in termsof legal issues?
Answer: This is a case that was studied by QFA's Players' Status
Committee in detail. Till now there are no legal ramifications in this
case. The case is between him and his former club (Al Arabi).
Obviously the concerned parties are looking into it. Any player has
the right to claim unpaid dues from his employers. This is clearly
stated in the QFA rules and regulations. The QFA Players' Status
Committee confirmed the legitimacy of the termination of the player's
contract and thus allowing him to sign with any other club of his
choice (he signed with Al Gharafa). We will make an appropriate
decision on the matter when further evidence is brought to our notice.
We are following the rules and regulations of QFA.
Question: It seems Al Arabi had a few contradictions in their repliesto Abdul Aziz Hatem. Do you think that should go unnoticed?
Answer: The club administration was communicated on 30-4-2015 and on
10-5-2015. The player has sent them written warning on the case. It
must have raised eyebrows but you can't ignore the facts. You can't
twist the story and make it believable, especially when you have
involved QFA into this. We respect our brothers at Al Arabi but the
player is entitled to his rights.
Question: Do you think Hatem's contract was indeed annulled?
Answer: The details that you (the media) have is correct. The contract
was annulled. QFA is right when it says that the players can leave a
club when it does not pay him for his services. This was conveyed to
Al Arabi administration in a friendly manner. We tried to mediate
also. We even suggested a seven-day deadline. When the matter was not
resolved, he was allowed to sign for another club after 12 days.
Question: Your answers hint that you did not you deal with the Al Arabin a formal way. Do you think on the same lines?
Answer: Whatever evidence we had from the player and their employers,
we had referred that to the Al Arabi administration so that they could
tell us about the matter from their side. Nobody can say we don't have
the evidence in this matter. All of this eventually hampers the growth
of a club and affects the fans-base of a side. There's no point in
misleading people on the matter. It is time to stop the criticism
without reason. The parties concerned should act properly. The player
clearly said to the official of the committee and blamed the club head
in front of them.
Question: Who do you think is responsible for the controversy?
Answer: The members of the club administration have raked up this
issue. The media know these characters well. The club administration
twisted facts and fanned the issued to this stage. The player respects
Al Arabi and its leadership. QFA is here to resolve matters and not
create confusion. So it is wrong to say QFA let this happen.
Question: What's your final word on the matter?
Answer: I hope all of this could be resolved amicable among all the
stakeholders. Al Arabi is formidable side and have a large fan-base.
The club needs to act right and learn from past experiences. There is
no need to drag the issue. When everything gets resolved, then that is
in the interest of Qatar football as a whole.
