DOHA: Iran on Wednesday crushed Syria 2-0 to win the West Asian
Football Federation (QAFF) Championship final under lights.
Ali Reza Mohammadi (58) and Arslan Mathira (81) scored the goals for
the Iranian side at Lekhwiya Stadium.
Syria played well in patches but clearly lacked finishing touches as
open scoring chances were missed.
Iran team, however, looked sharper as they took advantage of defensive
mistakes from Syria and fired in the two goals.
Earlier on Wednesday, hosts Qatar beat Yemen 3-0 to grab the third
spot in the U23 event held at Lekhwiya Stadium.
