DOHA: Qatar midfielder Ahmed Abdulmaksood on Thursday said his team's 1-0
win over China was a 'hard-fought' effort at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
Qatar maintained their 100 percent record in Group C of the 2018 FIFA
World Cup/2019 AFC Asian Cup joint-qualifiers as the reigning Gulf champions
edged China 1-0.
Karim Boudiaf scored the only goal in the 22nd minute.
"It was a good win for us but I have to say it was a hard-fought
effort from our players," Abdulmaksood said after the match.
"We played to a plan and once we got the lead, we remained positive in
the match," the Gulf Cup hero added.
"I want to thank our fans who turned out in large numbers at the
stadium," he added.
Qatar now has 12 points from four matches.
Abdulmaksood and his team now host Maldives on October 13 at the same venue.
