DOHA: Lebanon and Jordan community football teams have qualified to the final of the fifth Asian Communities Football Tournament (ACFT) after playing strong semi-finals against India and Nepal community teams respectively.
Lebanon beat India 1-0 while Jordan crushed Nepal 6-0 in the semi-finals which took place on Friday 21 April at Al Ahli Stadium.
Hundreds of fans and families flocked to the stadium to cheer for their community teams during the semis and enjoy a fun and exciting community football environment.
The third place decider match will take place on Friday 5 May at 5pm in Al Ahli Stadium, and the final will also take place on the same day at Al Ahli Stadium at 7pm.
The tournament draw took place in February in which 12 teams were divided into two groups of six. Group A included Indonesia, Lebanon, Jordan, India, South Korea and China, whereas Group B included Malaysia, Singapore, Nepal, Japan, Sri Lanka, and Philippines.
Group A showed that it consists of the toughest teams as three of its’ teams qualified for the semi-finals (Lebanon, India and Jordan), whereas only one team (Nepal) went through to the semi-finals from Group B.
Organised by the Qatar Football Association (QFA), the ACFT is sponsored by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SCDL) as the Official Partner, and Nike.
