DOHA: Muaither on Monday edgedAl Shahaniya 4-1 on penalty
shootouts to reach the second round of the Emir Cup.
In the game played at Grand Hamad Stadium, Muaither - the
Qatargas League champions - couldn't force an outright win
which saw the teams needing a penalty shootout to decide a
winner.
Jeremy Alidaier, Ahmed Mubarak, Ayoob Al Widrasi and
Mahmood Zaatara scored for the winners.
Muaither will now meet Al Gharafa in the second round of
the Emir Cup on Saturday at the same venue.
The two teams presented a feisty contest, engaging in rough
tackles for ball possession.
However, the stalemate was ended when Muaither players
dominated the penalty shootout.

Qatar - ends after five stages on May 20.
