DOHA: Qatar U19 coach has praised the performances of the junior
national side, saying his players 'deserved to qualify for the AFC U19
Championship' to be held in Bahrain.
Hosts Qatar on Tuesday beat Oman 2-1 to maintain an unbeaten run
following victories over Lebanon 4-0 and Kyrgyzstan 7-1 earlier in the
week.
Coach Roberto Aranzabal said: "I congratulate the Qatari players on their
remarkable run. We won three matches and that is very satisfying."
He added: "When a team plays as well we did, it feels good. I'd say we
deserved to qualify."
"I want to thank my team who worked extremely hard with the players,"
the coach said.
"I would like to thank QFA for their support and the Aspire Academy
for their assistance," the coach added.
"I am satisfied with their performance and I feel these young boys are
ready to improve further," he said.
Assistance coach Abdul Aziz said: "It was a difficult match against
Oman who are a top side. But we seemed to have a greater desire to
win."
He added: "I think the Qatari youngsters have improved a lot in the
last one year. We played three games and won all three. The last win
was important as it helped us to qualify for the finals in Bahrain."
