DOHA: Qatar football coach Jorge Fossati on Monday named a 16-player
squad for a friendly against the UAE on June 6, the Qatar Football
Association (QFA) has confirmed.
Qatar will host the UAE before playing the 2018 FIFA World Cup
qualifying match against South Korea in Doha on June 13. The Asian
Zone Group A game will be the 8th for Qatar in this phase.
The UAE is also preparing for their Group B clash against Thailand.
The June 6 friendly is aimed to give Qatar and the UAE some
much-needed practice ahead of their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying
matches.
The Qatar squad does not include Lekhwiya players since the Qatar
Stars League (QSL) champions are away in Tehran for their round 16
game of the AFC Champions League.
The Lekhwiya players will join the Qatar squad once they get back to
Doha, QFA said on Monday.
Qatar currently are at the bottom of Group A with 4 points. Iran lead
the group with with 17 points, followed by South Korea (13 points),
Uzbekistan (12 points), Syria (8 points) and China (5 points).

Yasser Abu Bakr, Khalifa Abu Bakr, Hassan Al-Haydos, Saad Al-Sheeb,
Ibrahim Majid, Pedro Miguel, Abdul Karim Hassan, Ali Asad Allah,
Khadar, Moussa Harun, Rodrigo Tabata and Omar Bari.
