RABAT, Morocco: Visiting Qatar side on Monday beat hosts Morocco
2-1 after a feisty performance.
The match is part of Qatar's preparation for this year's U-19 Asian
Cup to be held in Bahrain later this year.
Both teams launched the game on a cagey note but it was the home side
that scored first onlyminutesinside the first half.
Qatar picked up pace through their strikers after conceding the first
goal, engaging the home team on numerous occasions.
Muwaffaq Awad scored Qatar's equalizer in the 26th minute.
Morocco, one of the top teams in Africa, launched a series of attacks
in the second half also but Oscar Cano-coached Qatar side hit back
swiftly.
Qatar's Hassan Ahmed succeeded in finding the winner in the 82nd minute.
Qatar will now play their second friendly on Wednesday.
The team will play two friendlies in the Spanish city of Malaga on
February 24 and 26 March next year against the national teams of Costa
Rica and the Ivory Coast.
Qatar are the defending champions of the 2014 U-19 AFC Asian Cup that
was held in Myanmar in October 2014.
