Qatar eye eighth consecutive win on China trip

XI’AN, CHINA: Visiting Qatar squad will be eyeing their eighth win when they take on hosts China PR in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying game on Tuesday. On Thursday, hosts Qatar crushed Hong Kong 2-0 for their seventh consecutive win in Group C, Asian Zone qualifying match played in Doha. Coached by Daniel Carreno, Qatar have pocketed 21 points to lead Group C. Qatar will miss the services of Hassan Al Haydos and Sebstian Soria who are out on suspension. Ali Asad is also suspended while Ahmed Yasser is out with injury. Qatar beat China PR in their first leg 1-0 when the two teams clashed in Doha in October last year. China downed Maldives 4-0 with midfielder Jiang Ning's hat-trick to keep their hope of qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup alive at their penultimate match of Group C in the second round of Asian qualifiers last week. Tuesday's clash will be played at Shanxi Province Stadium, Xi'an. Qatar arrived in China on Sunday evening.
