DOHA: Coach Felix Sanchez has named the Qatar Olympic squad that will train in Turkey in the first week of January, details revealed on Wednesday. Felix and his group of 25 players will leave for Antalya, Turkey, on Thursday, Qatar football Association (QFA) said on Wednesday. In Turkey, Qatar will play a friendly against Iceland on January 6. The Qatari squad will return to Doha on January 7 and resume training immediately for the Jan 12-30 AFC U-23 Championship to be held in Qatar. The top three sides in the three-week event will grab a spot each in the football competition at the 2016 Olympic Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro. On December 27, Qatar beat Uzbekistan 2-0 in a friendly at Al Ahli Stadium.
