Qatar Olympic squad named for camp in Turkey

DOHA: Coach Felix Sanchez has named the Qatar Olympic squad that will train in Turkey in the first week of January, details revealed on Wednesday. Felix and his group of 25 players will leave for Antalya, Turkey, on Thursday, Qatar football Association (QFA) said on Wednesday. In Turkey, Qatar will play a friendly against Iceland on January 6. The Qatari squad will return to Doha on January 7 and resume training immediately for the Jan 12-30 AFC U-23 Championship to be held in Qatar. The top three sides in the three-week event will grab a spot each in the football competition at the 2016 Olympic Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro. On December 27, Qatar beat Uzbekistan 2-0 in a friendly at Al Ahli Stadium. Qatar squad: Muhannad Naeem, Musab Al-Khader, Abdul Karim Hassan, Ali Asad, Mohammed Alaa, Bassam Hisham, Ahmed Alaa, Ahmed Fadel, Tariq Salman, Mohammed Muntari, Ahmed Yasser, Abdul Rahman Mohammed, Wazan Naem, Sultan Bareik, Tamim Mohammed, Mohammed Bakri, Essam Madapo, Moiaz Ali, Fahad Ali, Ahmed Moin, Abdullah Abdul Salam, Akram Afif, Salim Al-Hajri, Yusuf Hassan and Ahmed Al-Saadi.
