DOHA: The Qatar Olympic squad was held to a 1-1 draw
by Oman in a friendly.
Fans witnessed a feisty contest as the U-23 players presented
an attacking game.
The game - scheduled to help the Qatar side prepare for the
Asian Cup qualifying tournament - was played at Al Sailiyah
Club.
This was the second friendly for the Qatar team that also played
a goalless draw against Thailand.
Saadi Ahmed scored the goal for Qatar. Midfielder Azan Mahmood
scored for Oman.
After a series of attacks in the first half, the two sides retained
their momentum for most past of second also.
Qatar's highlights were Yusuf Hassan, Abdul Rahman, Abdul Hamid,
Fahd Jassem, Ahmed Al-Saadi and Meshaal Al-Shammari.
Qatar coach Felix Sanchez made several changes that allowed the
players maximum time on the pitch.
Sanchez said: "It was a good performance. The players did well. They
will get better. This experience is invaluable for the youngsters."
