MANAMA, Bahrain: Coach Oscar on Friday lauded the performance
of his side, saying Qatar played 'brave' football in their 1-1 draw against
Iran.
The Group C match played on the opening day of the AFC U-19 Asian
Cup on Friday.
"The first game at any event is dangerous. You don't know what to
expect," Cano said on Friday.
"But I would say the team played brave football. They were the better
side," he said.
"Iran got the equaliser from a good attack. But I feel it is important
not to lose the first game at any tournament," he said.
"I am proud of my team. We can qualify for the next stage. We will
focus on the second game now," he said.
Qatar play Yemen (October 17) nd then Japan (October 20) in their
remaining preliminary stage fixtures.
"We are looking forward to the next games," he said. "Japan is a good
side but we are well prepared," Cano said.
"We should aim for a win," he said.
"This is a strong group. We have good sides playing here. We must be
at our best in the next two games," he said.
Iranian coach Amir Husain said: "We made some mistakes in the first
half. We corrected those mistakes in the second half."
He added: "I think the players have been impacted by warm weather.
We played good football to get the equaliser."
He said: "Qatar played good football. It was an exciting match."
