DOHA: The Qatar Football Association (QFA), and Qatar Shell organised
a three-day coaching clinic in preparation for the launch of the fifth
season of ‘Il’AbWe’Yana’, an extra-curricular football programme
targeted at boys and girls ages 7-16 years.
Il’AbWe’Yana is based on FC Barcelona Foundation’s FutbolNet
methodology and provides children with an extra 72 hours of
extra-curricular physical education per year.
The seminar focused on five teaching modules that address healthy
living through football.Over 50 local coaches from the QFA and Qatar
Women’s Sports Committee, including Qatari men and women, attended the
seminar.
Il’AbWe’Yana is part of an award-winning KOORA TIME initiative
developedby the Qatar Football Association in partnership with Qatar
Shell.
The initiativeis designed to improve the health and well-being of
young people in Qatar through football.
Since its launch in March 2013, the programme has benefitted over
10,000 children across Qatar. Last year’s programme sawa significant
reduction in Body Mass Index (BMI) by 80% of participants. BMI is a
measure of body fat based on height and weight.
In recognition for its positive impact on the health of youth, KOORA
TIME has been the recipient of numerous awards including the ‘Sports
Industry Award’ for Best CSR Initiative, ‘CSR Award Qatar’ for Best
CSR Impact Initiative, the ‘Dar Al Sharq Corporate Social
Responsibility Award’ for the Best Sports Initiative,and the ‘AFC
Dream of Asia Award’ in the area of social responsibility.
