Qatar skid after feisty Turkey clash

DOHA: Turkey on Friday fought back from goal's deficit to beat hosts Qatar 2-1 in an international friendly at Lekhwiya Stadium. Ali Asadalla scored for the home side in the 21st minute. However, Turkey hit back through Arda Turan (70th minute) and Cenk Tosun (73rd minute) to score an upset against the inform Qataris. The match was part of Qatar’s preparation for their second-round tie of the 2018 World Cup Asian Zone qualification against Bhutan on November 17. Coach Daniel Carreno's side are unbeaten in five games that includes wins over Maldives, Hong Kong, China and Bhutan. Eight group winners and the best four runners-up will make it to the third and final round, where they will be drawn into two groups of six teams each. The top two sides from each will progress directly to the Russia finals, with the two third-placed nations going into play-offs. The 12 teams to reach the final round will also qualify for the 2019 Asian Cup in the UAE.
