Qatar squad lands in China

XI’AN, CHINA: Qatar squad has reached Xi’an in a chartered flight for Tuesday’s 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2019 Asian Cup joint qualifying match. The Qatar squad – headed by coach Daniel Carreno – will hit the training pitch on Monday at Shaanxi Province Stadium in Xi’an, details have revealed. Qatar take on China on March 29 in their final 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying game. Qatar, who beat China 1-0 in Doha last October, are leading Group C with 21 points following seven successive wins in the qualifying campaign. Also known as Al Anabi, Qatar will be hoping to finish this stage of qualification on a positive note before waiting for the draw of third the round of 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification on April 12. On Thursday, Qatar – coached by Daniel Carreno – crushed Hong Kong 2-0 to remain unbeaten in seven matches. “We were facing a motivated Hong Kong side yet we managed to show character” Carreno said hours before flying for China. “It was a good opportunity for us to prepare ahead of our game against China,” he added. Key players like Hassan Al Haydos, Ali Asad and Sebastian Soria will miss the game since the triopicked up yellow cards on Thursday. Others who did not make the trip includeAhmed Yassir and Khalifa Abu Bakr. After the game on March 29, Qatar players will disperse for Qatar Stars League (QSL) games before returning for training in May.
