KUALA LUMPUR: Top Qatari officials Abdul Rahman Al-Jassem, Fahad Jaber and Al-Khamis Al Marri have successfully completed their referees' workshop in the Malaysian capital. The participants at the Kuala Lumpur meet are expected to feature at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. The course focused on several aspects including the recent amendments to the laws of the game and adopted by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The Qatari officials praised the lecturers at the session, which included a new method of dealing with different subjects, and saw the participation of a distinguished group of lecturers and speakers. The participants unanimously agreed on the success of the session in achieving its objectives. Massimo Busacca, Head of the FIFA Refereeing Department, and the Deputy Head of the same department Manual Navarro, elaborately spoke at the workshop. Spanish professional refereer Juan Fernandez Marin talked about managing body language and control of the games during player conflicts in matches. At the end of the session, Qatar's Hani Balan, vice chairman of the referees' panel at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), paid glowing tributes to AFC and to those who featured at the workshop. Balan said: "We were delighted to be part of this workshop. We can clearly see the role played by AFC in getting this workshop together. The referees the world over will clearly benefit from participating at such events. Qatari referees also benefited immensely by coming down to Kuala Lumpur." "I am sure the referees will be in a better position to play their roles during games. They will be able to make better decisions in crunch situations."
