Qatari referees attend course in Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR: Qatari match officials Khamis Al Marri, Abdul-Rahman Al-Jassem and Fahad Jaber have joined the FIFA FUTURO III courses for the first group of Referee Technical Instructors and Referee Fitness Instructors in the Malaysian capital. Hani Balan, CEO of Qatar Stars League Management (QSLM), is lined up to deliver a lecture. Eighteen participants are taking part in the referee technical course while the one for referee fitness was attended by nine instructors. Football Association of Malaysia Referees Committee Chairman and AFC Referees Committee Member Dato’ Sivasundaram Sithamparam, the guest of honour during the courses’ opening ceremony, said: “It’s our honour to host the refereeing instructors’ courses in Kuala Lumpur. “Thanks to FIFA/AFC for the chance to organise these courses to develop, educate and improve referee Instructors. I take this opportunity to wish you all a very successful course and grab this opportunity to improve your knowledge.” FIFA Deputy Head of Refereeing Manual Navarro said: “The philosophy of the FUTURO III courses is based on the ‘teach the teachers’ concept, in other words, what you learn here during this course must be passed on to the referees and to other instructors, in your association. “This is a great opportunity to cover our objectives and you have excellent instructors to update you on new teaching resources, methodology to enhance the level of instructors and to improve new interpretation of the Laws of the Game. “I want you to know that FIFA believes in your great motivation, your hard work and your good results. We believe that all your countries can deliver excellent referees and assistant referees. That is why we continue to support you in all possible manners.” The course is designed to ensure the referees are ready to lead matches while upgrading their performances on the latest developments in the laws of the game.
