DOHA: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has announced a busy calendar of events for the national sides - juniors and seniors - besides listing a series of workshops and conferences for the 2016-17 season.
According to details released by QFA's Hamd Saleh, Director of Competitions, issues relating to player contracts, salary structure and player ratings came up for discussion as a special meeting of the football office bearers held on Thursday.
The special workshop on Thursday was also attended by Abdel Aziz Ansari, Head of Players Department, Ali Hamood Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Competitions Committee, and Ahmed Al Harami of Qatar Stars League (QSL).
The new football season will kick off with the 2016 Sheikh Jassim Cup to be contested by Al Rayyan and Lekhwiya around the second week of September.
The final date of the one-off game is yet to be decided, QFA said.
The new QSL season will kick off on September 15. The QSL will break three times in the first six months due to 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying games to be played by Qatar national team.
Qatar Cup will start on April 20 while Emir Cup final be held on May 19 next year.
It was also confirmed that QSL will be reduced to 12 clubs from the 2017-18 season. This year a total of 14 sides will feature in the regular QSL season.
