DOHA: Fahad Al Thani, Chief of Football Development at QFA, joined FIFA Alexander Ivencil and Muwaffaq Mawla to hand over certificates to participants who featured at a workshop on goalkeeping.
The finer points in goalkeeping coaching were extensively discussed at the Nov 27-Dec 1 workshop, details showed on Saturday. Fahad Thani said at the closing ceremony: "Our mission continues in coaching for goalkeepers. We had a list of new programs that had details to benefit athletes wanting to improve and learn goalkeeping." The five-day workshop saw participants representing Qatar Stars League (QSL) clubs. "The participants would be doing follow up work on what they have learned at the workshop," Fahad Thani said. "We wish them every success," he added. "I thank the participants for showing interest in our programs. We will continue to have such workshops so that the development of our amazing sport touches people's lives," he said. FIFA lecturer Ivencil said: "I applaud the QFA for taking this initiative. This is a welcome move that will prove immensely useful in the future." "This is my fourth visit here and I enjoy myself every time I come here," he said. "I am amazed to see the football infrastructure in this country. The facilities and workshops for players and officials is top-notch," he said. "I was particularly impressed with the participants at the goalkeeping workshop. Everything was handled very professionally," he said. During the ceremony, souvenirs were also exchanged.
