DOHA: Qatar Football Association (QFA) President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani has lauded Iceland on their historic performance against England at Euro 2016.
The QFA President said Qatar could learn from the recent improved performances of Iceland who were ranked 131 just four years ago.
He said Iceland ranked 23 last year has a small population yet they managed to upstage European giants England in the pre-quarters stage.
He said Qatar could draw inspiration from Iceland's braveheart show at Euro by reaching the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals.
The QFA chief chief applauded the determination of Iceland football family to rise in world rankings in quick time.
He said commitment of players on the field and sound support of administrative staff off the pitch can drive any team to produce quality results.
