DOHA: Qatar Football Association (QFA) President Sheikh Hamad bin
Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani on Tuesday lauded the discussions that took
place at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), labeling them as 'positive
and constructive in nature'.
QFA President said the vacant positions on the Executive Committee
will be filled next year when elections are held at a pre-determined
date.
Sheikh Hamad lauded the improved attendances at Qatar Stars League
(QSL) matches this season, saying fan turnout has far exceeded
anyone's expectations.
The QFA President noted that this year's crowd turnout was better
compared to the last season despite the fact that half of the season
still remains.
QFA President said the return of Al Rayyan in QSL has helped in
bringing more fans to the venues. He said better fan turnouts usually
assured of greater quality of football among the teams.
About refereeing issues, the QFA President said officials make
mistakes. He said 'every human makes errors and their mistakes should
not be considered as deliberate'.
The QFA chief underlined Qatar's ambitions of reaching the 2018 FIFA
World Cup finals, saying his team will do everything in its power to
help create a strong squad that could qualify for the game's showpiece
event in Russia.
He said Qatar coach Daniel Carreno is expected to be back soon from
his vacation. He said the Uruguayan will sit down with the management
and set the agenda for next year.
QFA chief said 'the next phase is clearly the most important for the
Qatar squad'.
He urged the stakeholders to remain united in helping Qatar progress
to the finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
