DOHA: Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of Qatar Football Association (QFA), received here on Friday HE Hafiz Mohammed Al-Ajmi, Kuwait's ambassador to Qatar.
The meeting comes within the framework of the brotherly relations between the two sides.
During the meeting, they discussed several common football matters.
The QFA President appreciated the fruitful relationship between the Qatari and Kuwaiti Football Associations and the continuous communication between the two countries.
The Kuwaiti ambassador also stressed the deep ties between the two football bodies and expressed his great pleasure in hosting the Gulf Cup in Kuwait.
He added that the two countries - Qatar and Kuwait - are the only ones who have participated in all editions since the official launch of the championship 1970 in Bahrain.
The hosting of the Gulf Cup coincides with the lifting of the FIFA ban on Kuwait.
For his part, Ambassador Hafiz Mohammed Al-Ajmi thanked the QFA President for Qatar's generous gesture to move the Gulf Cup to Kuwait.
The QFA President wished Kuwait an outstanding Gulf Cup. He said Kuwait will show greatest of professionalism in hosting the Gulf Cup.
