DOHA: Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the Qatar Football Association (QFA), on Tuesday met with Turkish ambassador to Qatar Ahmet Demirok, at the home of football at Al Bidda Tower. The two officials discussed matters of mutual interest and football in particular. Mr Demirok is leaving Qatar at the end of February following his tenure as the ambassador of Turkey to Qatar. The meeting was also attended by Hani Balan, a member of the Executive Committee of QFA, and Ali Daud, Eecutive Director of the Office of QFA President. The officials also discussed ways and means to promote and develop football in the two countries. It was agreed in principle to take football to all regions of Asia in the future with help of experts in the two countries. Mr Demirok thanked the QFA President for the 'positive exchanges' during the meeting. The Turkish ambassador wished Qatar well in 'hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup'. He pointed out that football remain the common interest in both countries with the game followed by millions of fans. QFA President also wished Mr Demirok 'well in the future'. Turkey enjoys huge fan following in football with a vibrant league that attracts millions of fans to the game.
