QFA President receives FIFA chief Infantino, discuss football matters in detail

DOHA: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani received FIFA Presidnet Gianni Infantino in his office, details revealed. The two officials discussed matters relating to football in Qatar and the region besides exchanging notes on the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be held in Qatar. The visit to QFA President's office was the last stop of Infantino's two-day trip to Qatar during which the FIFA boss met with top officials and undertook visits to football venues. QFA President congratulated Infantino on assuming the office as FIFA President at the end of February this year. Sheikh Hamad welcomed the decisions of Infantino to take football to all corners of the globe, saying Qatar backed the development of the game in all continents of the world. Infantino praised the commitment shown by Qatar in terms of upgrading existing sports venues and developing new stadiums ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. It was announced that FIFA and QFA will continue to work together to develop the game of football even beyond 2022. Infantino praised the role played by QFA to develop the sport in the country and the region. On Thursday, the FIFA President visited the construction site of the Khalifa International Stadium and the accommodation facilities at Labour City. Giving his thoughts on his visit President Infantino said: "It was very important for me to personally get an impression of the preparations from a different perspective. It was very interesting."
