DOHA: Officials representing Qatar Stars League (QSL) sides met with
medical experts in a meeting organised to talk fitness of players part
of the national squads.
A team of doctors - who look into sports injuries - met with QSL
officials to inform of fitness levels the national level players must
adhere to.
The meeting was arranged as Qatar prepares for the next stage of 2018
FIFA World Cup qualifying matches set to resume in March.
Qatar, coached by Daniel Carreno, are unbeaten in 6 group C qualifying
matches. The Group C includes Hong Kong, China PR, Maldives and
Bhutan.
"The players must be fit at all times and in case a player suffers an
injury, he should get the best of treatment and rehab facilities.
That's why we called this meeting," a QFA official said on Sunday.
The coordination meeting on Sunday was welcomed by QSL officials who
said the point of national team players attaining full fitness will be
closely monitored.
"In case a player gets injured, the concerned parties at the relevant
club and national team coach and backroom staff will be immediately
notified," a QFA official said.
It was unanimously agreed to send the injured players to Aspetar for
treatment and rehab work.
Aspetar features centres of excellence for sports medicine, sports
science, orthopedics and rehabilitation.
