DOHA: The Development Department of the Qatar Football Federation (QFA) held a press conference on Wednesday to unveil the training camp with Chelsea Academy. The press conference was attended by Fahd Thani, Director of Development, and Steven Winnet, international technical support for Chelsea. The camp will start on Thursday with the participation of 120 players aged between 16 and 20 years. The players will be supervised by four coaches from Chelsea who specialize in training age groups alongside 16 coaches from local clubs. Fahd Thani said during the press conference that the joint training camp with Chelsea is a pioneering experience for the first time in Qatar and the Gulf region. He said that two outstanding players from each of the 18 country clubs were nominated as a special initiative to improve their performance and motivate them to continue their training. Fahd Thani added: "We are keen to involve coaches who have training courses in order to create a kind of training experience for future coaches who could possibly work at clubs in the future." "The Academy's second presence in Doha is taking place so that we share our goals through a unique and enjoyable program with Chelsea," said Stephen Winnett, senior international technical support for Chelsea. "We are working on the training program through social responsibility as well as learning about the local culture in Qatar. We are eager to learn about the potential of young players, teach them different styles and to interact with more players. We hope the program is long-term and we seek to return in the future."
