Doha: Qatar U-23 national team will host Oman for two
friendlies on November 9 and 12.
The matches will prepare Felix Sanchez’s boys for the 2018
AFC U-23 Championship Finals in China next year.
The match against Oman initiates the cooperation
agreement signed between QFA and its Omani counterpart
two weeks ago.
Last month, Qatar drew Mexico 2-2 in the first friendly
since qualifying to the AFC U-23 Championship.
As Group C winners, Qatar automatically qualified for the
AFC U-23 Championship, Syria finished in second spot with
5 points.
According to AFC rules, the five best runners-up across all
groups will also qualify for the finals. However, if hosts China
win their group or are among the best five runners-up, the
sixth best runner-up will also qualify.
The draw for the China event will be held on Tuesday.
