DOHA: Two-first half goals on Friday helped Umm Salal beat Al Shahaniya
2-1 in their Emir Cup clash at Al Arabi Stadium.
The gutsy win on Friday secured a quarterfinals berth for the men in orange.
An early goal by Mustafa Mido (3) saw Umm Salal open the scoring but a
minute later, Al Shahaniya equalised through Fahad Al Baloushi (4).
Mido fired one in from close range in the third minute while Al Baloushi
deflected into the Umm Salal net with a well-timed shot.
However, Mahmoud Al Mawas (17) found the net for Umm Salal who went
to retain their slender lead through stout defending.
Al Mawas charged into the Al Shahaniya net before calmly dodging the
goalkeeper and slotting the ball into the net.
The final of the Emir Cup will be played on May 19.
