DOHA: Bagging three points in their feisty clash against visitors
China on Thursday has delighted Qatar coach Daniel Carreno.
Karim Boudiaf was the hero on Thursday as hosts Qatar maintained their
100 percent record in Group C of the 2018 FIFA World Cup/2019 AFC
Asian Cup joint-qualifiers with a 1-0 win over China.
"We are delighted to win this win," Carreno said after the match on Thursday.
"We achieved our target from this difficult match. We wanted three
points and we got them," the experienced Uruguayan added.
"I think both sides fought well from the very first minute," Carreno said.
"We were facing a strong opponent and three points are important at
this stage," he insisted.
"We played well to get the first goal as it was a different story in
the second half," he explained.
"We had opportunities in the second half but could not convert the
chances," the coach said.
"Our fighting spirit has delighted me," he added.
"I am not the guy who would celebrate a lot as we have more games to
play. We need to focus on the next match," he added.
Qatar host the Maldives on October 13 in Doha.
