DOHA: Lekhwiya's Khalid Muftah on Friday said his team deserved to win
the Emir Cup.
Lekhwiya beat Al Sadd 4-2 on penalties after both teams ended
regulation time with a 2-2 draw at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
"We have fought all the way. We did our best. We deserved to win since
we never gave up. We have been dreaming of winning the Emir Cup,"
the left backsaid.
"We are delighted that day has arrived. Our dream is realised. We had
worked so hard. It was a team effort," he added.
"We got new people also. We planned really well. It shows that hard
work pays. We have covered our bases well and taken out the negatives.
Now we will keep fighting in every game," he said.
Friday's Emir Cup final attracted a crowd of 13,000 organisers said.
