BHUTAN: Qatar coach Daniel Carreno on Tuesday applauded the
performance of his players after his side beat Bhutan in a World
Cup/Asian joint qualifying match.
Qatar's sixth consecutive qualifying win has helped the side reach
the finals of the 2019 Asian Cup to be held in the UAE.
"We have achieved the first of our goals. We played really well today
and I applaud their performances over the course of last six months," Carreno
said after Qatar beat Bhutan 3-0.
"I thank the players for their whole-hearted efforts on and off the
pitch," Carreno said.
"We will turn our focus on our next qualifier and we will aim to win
that game also," Carreno said.
"We tried to score more goals but Bhutan defended well today. I
think it was a fair result as both sides fought hard," Carreno said.
"In the first half, it was a little tough to find openings. But we
changed the strategy in the second half but I must admit they
defended well," the coach said.
"We will be training harder now. I am confident we will do well
as a team," he said.
Hassan Al Haydos scored a brace while Mohammed Muntari
scored in the first half in Qatar's 3-0 win.
