DOHA: Qatar Olympic squad coach Felix Sanchez on Monday
said his team has prepared well for this week's AFC Asian Cup
U-23 qualifiers.
Qatar will be joined by teams from Turkmenistan, India and
Syria at the July 19-23 event.
The group toppers will qualify for the Asian Cup finals to be
held in China next January.
Sanchez said in a press statement: "This event is difficult as
it is completed within a few days. Every team plays matches
every two days and this is very difficult. But in the recent past,
we have played eight friendly games, so we are prepared."
He added: "We will be playing tough teams in Turkmenistan, India
and Syria, but we are looking for three wins in order to qualify
for the Asian finals, which will be held in China next year."
"We will play very hard to achieve this very important goal for
us. The team is in a good position to participate in those
qualifiers," the Qatari Olympic coach concluded.
Qatar play India on July 21 and Syria two days later.
All matches will be played at Jassim Bin Hamas Stadium.
