DOHA: Coach Djamal Belmadi said on Friday his team never gave up
despite trailing 2-0 in the Emir Cup final at Jassim Bin Hamad
Stadium.
Belmadi's side fought back in the second half to force the game into
penalties which Lekhwiya won 4-2.
"Congrats to Lekhwiya. It was a very hard match. We believed we can
win. We never gave up," Belmadi said on Friday.
"I knewmy playerswill not give up. We kept on fighting, as we never
lost hope" he said beforewalking off toreceivehis gold medal.
Lekhwiya's Ahmed Abdul Maqsoud said: "The players played with
responsibility. It wasn’t sure that we’d win. We could have lost
also."
He added: "The rivals were so tough today. But let me be honest, we
had weak moments. But we kept on fighting. We didn’t give up in the
second half."
The football season has come to en end with Friday's final.
