SUWON: Influential striker Sebastian Soria on Tuesday pledged a
wholesome effort in Qatar's key 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match
against hosts Korea on Wednesday.
The game will be played at Suwon World Cup Stadium with kick off
slated for 2pm Qatar Standard Time.
"We will make every effort possible to get a positive result," Soria
said on Tuesday. "It is an important match for us and we know it," he
added.
Qatar lost their first two Asian Zone matches to Iran and Uzbekistan
early last month. Soria is expected to play key role with fellow
forward Rodrigo Tabata and Hassan Al Haydos.
"Every team member seeks a positive result," Soria said. "We have a
plan for Korea so that we get things going our way," the star striker
said.
"We need a good show after the two losses (last month)," he said.
"We are aware that we are playing one of the biggest sides in Asia.
But we believe in our own abilities to deliver on the big stage," the
veteran striker said.
Soria said Qatar played well against Iran and Uzbekistan but lapses in
concentration late in the two games allowed the opposition to win.
"I can assure you that the boys in maroon are all charged up. They are
ready for a big fight tomorrow. We have ambitions and getting points
is one of them," he said.
When asked about the Syria game on October 11, Soria declined to
answer in detail.
"Right now our focus is on the Korea game," he said. "We will take
about the Syria game after the Korea match," he added.
