DOHA: The fourth week of the Aspire Embassies’ Futsal Tournament has
wrapped up with a number of impressive matches between the
participating teams.
All eyes were on the match between Spain and the USA on Friday as the
Europeans claimed a 5-4 victory against the Americans.
Hot on their heels was France, who managed to inflict a 3-1 defeat
upon the Kenyan side. Ethiopia then went head-to-head against Mexico
in a match that saw Ethiopia emerge victorious with an 8-5 win.
The matches continued into Saturday with a superb display from Syria
who managed to thrash Sri Lanka 14-1.
Elsewhere, Tunisia defeated Portugal with an 11-1 win at the final
whistle, while Jordan celebrated a well-deserved 5-2 victory in a fast
and nail-biting game against the UAE.
With these results, Jordan leads Group “A” with 9 points, while Syria
leads Group “B” with 9 points, followed by Tunisia and Ethiopia with 6
points each.
The Aspire Embassies’ Futsal Tournament takes place every Friday and
Saturday at Aspire Dome. The final will take place in February.
