Kuala Lumpur: Fahad Thani Al Zarraa, Director of Development at the Qatar Football Association and a member of the Asian Football Confederation's (AFC) Technical Committee, participated in the AFC Youth Development Committee meeting last Tuesday. The meeting, held at the AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was conducted through the Coaches Development Working Group.   The session underscored the AFC's commitment to empowering its member associations by enhancing coach development programs. Experts from across Asia collaborated to devise strategies aimed at advancing these programs and elevating coaching standards.   A key topic of discussion was the latest updates to the AFC Coaches Charter. These included the introduction of Youth Coaching Diploma guidelines for Levels A and B, and the implementation of a mandatory dissertation requirement for Professional-level coaches.   Additionally, the committee explored ways to encourage more member associations to achieve Professional-level membership under the Coaches Charter. The meeting emphasized the need for a unified licensing system to create clear career pathways for coaches, aligning with the AFC’s mission to strengthen Asian football's global competitiveness.   Another highlight was an overview of the "Hub Concept," a groundbreaking project designed to develop technical expertise and leadership skills among elite female coaches from selected national associations.   Participants were also briefed on upcoming key events, such as the AFC-UEFA Coaching Diploma Equivalency Meeting in Nyon, Switzerland, later this month, and the AFC Coaching Development Conference in 2025.
