DOHA: Qatar Stars League (QSL) giants Al Gharafa are confident of resolving the dispute involving banned Australian midfielder Mark Bresciano. Two days ago, Bresciano was handed a four-month ban by FIFA, the world governing body, over an illegal international transfer issue. FIFA said his transfer from UAE side Al Nasr to Al Gharafa was 'illegal' and fined the 33-year-old A$1.87m (£1.09m). Al Gharafa official Jassim Al Mansouri said: "We are confident that we can get this issue resolved. We signed Mark because he was a free agent and not contracted with any club." Al Gharafa official said the club signed the Australian national team player after he had left his former employers Al Nasr. The 33-year-old trained on Sunday morning with the Socceroos squad in Sydney and is expected play against Costa Rica on Tuesday night. Al Mansouri said the decision to ban was not correct and the QSL side will pursue the case covering all legal issues in its file. "It was a disappointing decision to ban him. We will take necessary measure to have him playing for us again," Al Mansouri said. "As the player ended his contract with his former club before joining us, our next step will be filing an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport," he added. Australian midfielder Mark Milligan was quoted as saying on Sunday: "Bresh is a quality player ... I'm sure Bresh is going down the right channels and dealing with the right people."
