Al-Gharafa Shines as Qatari Sides Navigate Asian Fixtures

Doha:The second round of the 2025-2026 Asian Champions League Elite brought a mixed bag of results for Qatari clubs. Al-Gharafa secured the sole victory for our sides, delivering a confident 2-0 performance against Iraq's Al-Shorta at home. In other all-important fixtures, Al-Sadd was held to a 1-1 draw by Emirati guests Al-Sharjah, while Al-Duhail shared the points in a thrilling 2-2 encounter with Saudi Arabia's Al-Ahli.

 

Across the West Zone, the round saw intense competition. Saudi giants Al-Hilal edged past Uzbekistan's Nasaf 3-2 in an away victory, while Iran's Tractor and the UAE's Al-Wahda played out a goalless draw in Tabriz. In a surprising result, Saudi Al-Ittihad fell 0-1 to the UAE's Shabab Al-Ahli on home turf in Jeddah.

 

Shifting to the AFC Champions League Two, Qatar's Al-Ahli SC played out a goalless draw against Uzbekistan's Andijan in an away fixture. In the group's other match, Bahrain's Al-Khaldiya secured a 2-0 win over Arkadag, positioning themselves at the top of the Group 2 table with 4 points.

 

The standings in the Elite West Zone now see Al-Hilal leading the pack with a perfect 6 points. They are followed by a cluster of teams on 4 points, including Al-Ahli (KSA), Al-Sharjah, Al-Wahda, and Shabab Al-Ahli. Al-Gharafa sits on 3 points, with Al-Sadd and Tractor on 2 points each. Al-Duhail and Al-Shorta have a single point, while Al-Ittihad and Nasaf are still seeking their first.

 

Attention now turns to the next set of fixtures. The West Zone's third round kicks off on October 20th and 21st, featuring key matches like Al-Hilal vs. Al-Sadd in Riyadh. Meanwhile, in the Champions League Two, Al-Ahli SC will host Turkmenistan's Arkadag in Doha on October 22nd.
