Meanwhile, Al Markhiya suffered a setback, losing to Al Sailiya, who climbed to second place, pushing Al Markhiya down to third and intensifying the competition among the top teams for promotion.

Al Kharaitiyat settled the match early, with Mohsen Al Yazidi scoring in the 11th minute, followed by Mauritanian forward Souleymane Anne adding a second in the 34th minute. In another fixture held at Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium, Al Sailiya also secured a 2-0 victory over Al Markhiya, thanks to goals from Mohamed Benyettou in the 49th and 90+5 minutes.

The round concluded on Friday, February 14, with two thrilling encounters that ended in 2-2 draws—one between Mesaimeer and Al Bidda, and the other between Muaither and Al Waab. These teams continue to battle for better standings in a league where the race for promotion is increasingly focused on Al Kharaitiyat, Al Sailiya, and Al Markhiya.

Following this round, Al Kharaitiyat sits at the top with 19 points, just two points ahead of Al Markhiya (17), who are tied on points with Al Sailiya but fall behind on goal difference. The tenth round of the league is set to take place on February 20-21, with a crucial clash between Al Kharaitiyat and Al Markhiya at Hamad Al Kabir Stadium in Al Arabi Club. Al Kharaitiyat aims to extend its lead and maintain an unbeaten record, while Al Markhiya must secure a victory to keep their promotion hopes alive.

On the same day, Lusail will take on Al Sailiya at Saud bin Abdulrahman Stadium. Despite the gap in league standings, Al Sailiya will be eager to continue their winning streak and capitalize on any slip-ups from Al Kharaitiyat to challenge for the top spot.
