DOHA: Al Markhiya on Wednesday managed to beat Al Shahaniya at Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium in the penultimate round of the Second Division League.
The goals for Al Markhiya were scored by Saleh Muhammad Al Yahri and Jamil Al Yahmadi in the 24th and 88th minutes respectively.
Thanks to a strike by Nour Rahman, Al Shahaniya scored the goal in the 48th minute.
Al Markhiya raised its tally to 33 points while Al Shahaniya's balance froze at 21 points.
Al Markhiya Took advantage of Al-Kharaitiyat's stumble in a 1-1 draw against Lusail.
"We've had faith through the season. We can look back and see when we scored late goals and had that always go for the goal mentality. That helped us immensely, and it's testimony to the players and staff that everyone's worked well together. Said, coach Abdullah Mubarak.
"After a slow start to the season, we never panicked. We stuck at our game and knew we were performing well. Every side has results that aren't going to go their way, but then we started winning games regularly, which propelled us to the league's top.
Second-placed Al-Kharaitiyat raised their tally to 28 points and will play the deciding match against the penultimate holder of the QNB Stars League.
