In their last-round match in the Qatar Stars League, the seven-time champions defeated Muaither SC 4-2, but it was not enough as Al Kharaitiyat, despite losing 0-3 to Al Sadd, finished 12th on better goal difference.
Lekhwiya, El Jaish, Al Sadd and Al Sailiya finished as top four in that order.
Muaither were already relegated after making top-flight debut this season.
Al Shamal and Al Shahaniya were promoted to the premier division.
