DOHA: Represented by Secretary General Mr. Saoud Al Mohannadi and board member Mr. Hani Balan; the Qatar Football Association handed over a cheque for QR 245,760, the proceeds of Al Ahli’s most recent QSL match against Al Khor in aid of the victims of the Philippine’s Typhoon Haiyan.
Philippine’s ambassador to Qatar, Mr. Crescente R. Relacion, Mr. Ahmed Al Manai football director of Al Ahli Sports Club and other local football personalities were among the attendance in a press conference held specifically for the occasion at QSL headquarters.
QFA Secretary General Saoud Al Mohannadi commended Al Ahli’s philanthropic gesture and thanked QSL for encouraging clubs to reach out to all communities living in Qatar through football. He said: I met with the Philippine’s Football Federations president last week during the AFC annual awards event in Kuala Lumpur, he was thrilled about this initiative, it is our duty to support stricken countries and we intend to continue to do so.
